Our main course programme is accredited by City & Guilds. Courses are delivered by WJA-registered examination providers and WJA-approved trainer/examiners, who are carefully selected and regularly audited. We also regularly review and update our training so it is always aligned with latest technical developments and regulatory requirements.
Contact Training ProvidersWJA courses give operatives a strong foundation for delivering safe water jetting services to a recognised, consistent standard. Training follows a two-stage training and examination process, combining theory with practical experience under an experienced WJA trainer/examiner.
Operative achieves an assessed pass of the WJA Safety Awareness course.
Operative achieves an assessed pass of at least one WJA Practical Module.
Operative gains access to type and digital certificates and cards.
Operative completes the Safety Awareness Refresher on the required renewal cycle.
To help operatives maintain this standard throughout their careers, a refresher is required every three years. Operatives have a three-month window before and after their card expiry date to renew their jetting card.
Contact Training ProvidersThe mandatory foundation for all water jetting operatives. To make your card operational, you must also complete at least one WJA Practical Module.
To receive digital water jetting certificates and cards, candidates must pass at least one WJA Practical Module.
The WJA offers a suite of City & Guilds-accredited standalone courses, supporting the water jetting industry with specialist training and assessment.
These courses help contractors ensure operatives have the skills and knowledge needed to carry out a wider range of specialist services safely, professionally and to a recognised standard.
The WJA’s Level 2 Water Jetting Technician Certificate is the WJA’s first qualification for assessing competent water jetting. It combines our proven City & Guilds courses with a new vocational assessment element to create a qualification, accredited by the ABBE awarding body, that confirms the learner’s competency.
Successful candidates can then apply for the WJA’s Competent Operative Card (renewable every three years with practical assessments) and the CSCS Blue Skilled Worker Card (renewable every five years, with a touch-screen test).
The WJA now allows its courses to be delivered by approved examination providers and trainer/examiners who are based outside the United Kingdom. This is helping meet growing demand for WJA training courses around the world, notably in the Middle East.
The WJA uses the CLiKAPAD digital response system to assess candidates on City & Guilds-accredited water jetting courses.
Candidates answer multiple-choice questions throughout the course, helping trainer/examiners check understanding and revisit topics where needed.
This makes assessment more interactive and helps our trainer/examiners support candidates with different learning styles and abilities.
Candidates must achieve at least 80% to pass. For Practical Modules, CLiKAPAD is combined with a practical assessment, where candidates are observed completing tasks to WJA training standards.
Water jetting operatives and employers can confirm WJA courses are current by viewing details via the WJA portal. They can also scan a QR code on a WJA jetting card or a WJA Digital course certificate. This provides access to a secure verification portal where course details can be viewed.
